80 Years of Chevron in British Columbia

Downstream Operations

In 1935, Standard Oil of British Columbia began with a 2,000 barrel-per-day (bpd) refinery located on Burrard Inlet near Vancouver. Today, the Chevron Burnaby refinery is the only refinery on Canada’s West Coast, and as such is fundamental to B.C’s economic infrastructure. Chevron’s products have helped build the Province and we remain a leading manufacturer and supplier to public services, aviation, transportation and resource industries.  Our commitment to British Columbia is reflected in our ongoing investment in the Refinery which ensures our products and operations meet the latest environmental standards.

Today, the Burnaby Refinery is a modern 55, 000 bpd facility that produces petroleum products from Canadian crude oil. The products we make supplies approximately 25 % of British Columbia’s transportation fuel needs; helping to move people and goods throughout the Province. We are proud to be B.C’s leading gasoline brand. The slide show below highlights our contributions to the BC economy over the last 80 years.
