We have exciting career opportunities at our Burnaby Refinery for new graduates with a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Mechanical, or Integrated Engineering disciplines.
Chevron’s Burnaby Refinery is a modern 55,000 Barrel per day refinery located on Burrard Inlet. It supplies a significant portion of southwestern BC’s gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel and is part of Chevron’s global network of refineries.
Design Engineers work in our Facilities Engineering group to manage a wide variety of small and medium size construction projects. Successful applicants will have the flexibility to work in more than one area of the plant with maintenance, inspection, operations, and construction staff.
You will be a strong team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a self starter, an effective problem solver, and have the ability to effectively handle several tasks/projects concurrently in a plant environment efficiently and safely.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical or Integrated Engineering
Duties and Responsibilities:
Project Management
As a designs engineer, you’ll handle the management of small and medium sized construction projects. You’ll deal with tanks, pressure vessels, compressors, pumps, piping, electrical power distribution, and advanced computer controls.
Your work will include repairs, additions and new installations. You’ll also be responsible for managing all aspects of engineering and construction projects. This includes:
- project identification and scoping
- estimation of labour and material costs
- engineering design of equipment, considering safety, operability and environmental impact
- preparation of specifications for construction and equipment purchases
- contract administration for construction activities
- job supervision and planning
- cost monitoring
- interfacing with plant/field operations, process, engineering, maintenance and inspection
- budgeting and scheduling
- turnover and start-up of facilities
You’ll learn and apply Chevron’s Project Development and Execution Process (CPDEP) to project and construction work. CPDEP was developed by Chevron to better manage the company’s growing worldwide capital budget. The proven results of this process have established Chevron as a world-class leader in project management.
Technical Support
As a designs engineer, you can become involved with larger design and construction projects or specialize in a variety of technical areas.
