Calgary AB, June 26, 2014 - Calgary, Alberta – Alberta's non-profit organizations turn over more than half of their staff each year, making recruitment and retention of talent one of the most important issues they face.
To address this chronic problem, Propellus and Chevron Canada on June 26 will launch the new "Transform Your Story Fund," a project aimed at building capacity in non-profit organizations, at the Propellus Annual General Meeting at the Kahanoff Centre.
The Transform Your Story Fund invites Calgary non-profits to apply for funding to assist them in projects associated with governance, people engagement, leadership and fund development. Propellus subject matter experts will meet with applicants to discuss how to best support the non-profit, and the Transform Your Story Fund will pay for the necessary training and consulting services.
"We know from talking to our members that access to funding is the greatest barrier to accessing capacity building services," says Doug Watson, director of Member Services. "This fund will give non-profit organizations an opportunity to invest in their learning and thus, better fulfill their missions."
"All successful organizations require effective leadership, sound governance and responsible fiscal management, and that includes non-profit organizations," says Jeff Lehrmann, president of Chevron Canada. "Having these things in place are critical to recruiting and retaining good people, and being able to deliver your business objectives."
The application deadline for the Transform Your Story Fund is August 31. For more information, including application criteria, visit www.propellus.org/membership.
