Chevron Canada Resources (CCR) has been named one of the Best 25 Small and Medium Employers in Canada
Chevron Canada Resources (CCR) has been named one of the Best 25 Small and Medium Employers in Canada for 2007 after participating in a national survey conducted by Queen’s University School of Business and HR consulting firm Hewitt and Associates.
This national awards program recognizes top employers that have between 50 and 400 employees, have been in business for at least three years and which met certain survey completion response rates. CCR was one of 150 businesses that elected to participate in this fourth annual national survey, and was ranked # 18. It was the only energy company in this category to be selected.
The rankings were primarily determined using the results from Employee Opinion Surveys where, 17 key engagement drivers were detailed and analyzed. The evaluation process also included the assessment of organization practices and perspectives from the leadership team.
“We are pleased to have participated in this survey and even more pleased to be recognized as a progressive, engaging and stimulating company to work for,” said Chevron Canada Resources President Mark Nelson. “What makes it most meaningful is that it is our current employees that confirmed this through the survey results.”
Some of the characteristics that the top 25 companies demonstrated included:
- Make a demonstrable habit of seeking out and listening to employees' views.
- Led by a senior team clearly committed to and championing efforts to maintain and improve engagement.
- Possess a clearly articulated philosophy about people and where they fit into an organization's culture and direction.
- Continuously emphasize the value and importance of employees to an organization and its success.
- Execute well on all of the classic HR basics (recruiting and hiring, training and developing, promoting, retaining employees).
- Treat engagement as an important all-hands undertaking, not just an HR program.
- Senior team is all on the same page on key HR management issues.
- Work hard to connect employees to the business in meaningful ways.
