Chevron Canada Limited is pursuing the development of oil and natural gas resources in the Northwest Territories, primarily focusing on the Beaufort Sea.

Chevron has interests in 10 Canadian Beaufort Sea discoveries, including a 33% non-operated working interest in the Amauligak discovery, which has been defined by 11 wells and, based on estimates by the National Energy Board of Canada, contains 235 million barrels of oil equivalent and approximately 1.36 trillion cubic feet of natural gas.  The company also holds a 13% non-operated working interest in the adjacent Issungak discovery. In 2008, the company was awarded an exploration lease during the Beaufort sale.

In the Mackenzie Delta, Chevron has interests in seven natural gas discoveries. Chevron is continuing its development efforts in the region through a farm-out agreement with BP Canada and MGM Energy.

In 2008, the Chevron Arctic Center was established in Calgary. The center comprises some of the world’s foremost experts in northern oil and gas exploration and development. The center supports Chevron’s global upstream efforts in the areas of Arctic exploration, asset development and business development.
